A Basename domain

Powered by the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) technology stack, Basenames is a new native on-chain identity system for the Base ecosystem.

The big idea? Make it easier to 1) send transactions with readable addresses, and 2) manage and evolve on-chain profiles on Base. Like ENS, these profiles are each backed by a unique domain NFT.

The registration price to mint your profile is 0.0001 ETH per year (+10 character name), but registering a coveted 3 character name like "abc.base.eth" costs 0.1 ETH per year. Personally, I chose peaster.base.eth and paid 0.001 ETH, which is about $2.55 at the current ETH/USD exchange rate.

Base Colors Soulbounds

Base Colors is a NFT series created by JAKE and Apex777, which contains more than 16 million tokens, each of which represents a unique color in the RGB system. Collectors can mint, name and own these colors as they wish.

I love the minimalist experimentation here, but as a fan of projects that “illustrate” crypto addresses into visual form in a unique way, it was actually the Base Colors spin-off series Soulbounds that really caught my eye and compelled me to cast.

For example, the screenshot above shows my Soulbound, my Ethereum address, adapted into the Base Colors system. This secondary series of NFTs are non-transferable, hence the name, but cost only 0.001 ETH to mint, making it an easy and fun way to visualize your on-chain status.

Wazoo Wegends

This week, Party released V2 of their new Sets tool that allows creators to easily publish NFT collections as mixed-rarity open editions, and they released Kazoo Legends as a 24-hour launch to show off V2 in action.

The minting has now concluded, but crypto art legend Gremplin (creator of CrypToadz and contributor to Nouns art) followed it up with the release of his own Set in the style of his signature Wawoo Wegends.

Coins cost 0.0005 ETH to mint, so if you haven't collected some of the iconic Gremplin pieces before, this is a great way to collect them, and if you're lucky, you'll get the rarest "Legendary" Wizod edition. Remember, minting ends tomorrow (August 30) at 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET, so collect before then to try your luck!

Creature Cubes

The latest work from Danny Cole’s Creature World art project, Creature Cubes, is a 404-style experiment in which collectibles are made up of NFTs and fungible $CUBE tokens.

Collecting a Cube costs 0.008 ETH, and doing so will bring you 1 NFT and the associated amount of 1,000 $CUBE. Transfer the NFT and the tokens come with it, trade some tokens and the NFT will be burned until you get 1,000 $CUBE again, and so on.

The idea is to pave the way for exploring new collectible mechanics within the Creature World community. Plus, the artwork is simply charming—as is always the case for Danny Cole and co.

Please note that this offer is only open for 24 hours, so if you’re interested in joining in, make sure to claim it before August 30th at 12:20 PM PT / 3:20 PM ET!

Dappmon Starter Package

Dappmon is a new virtual pet game on Base, where all in-game creatures and assets are powered by NFTs, and its application logic is built on MUD, an open source framework for building applications such as fully on-chain games.

Collect, raise, train and battle your pets to become a champion, or just play casually to explore the early game scenarios of Base. It's up to you!

To get started, minting the Dappmon Starter Pack costs 0.0066 ETH, which will give you everything you need to dive in, including starter eggs, food, bandages, and more to help you manage your pet. If you're looking for a Base app that's worth a try, this one is worth a try.
