[El Salvador President: Bitcoin has not been as widely adopted as we hoped] Golden Finance reported that Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele said in an interview with Time magazine that the monetary experiment of using Bitcoin as legal tender has had mixed results. When asked whether Bitcoin monetization was "successful", Bukele said: "Bitcoin has not been as widely adopted as we hoped, and many Salvadorans are using it. Most of the country's large companies are using it. The positive side is that it is voluntary; we have never forced anyone to adopt it. We offer it as an option, and those who choose to use it have benefited from the rise of Bitcoin. I certainly hope that more people will adopt it, but we have always been proud of being a free country, free in all aspects." Nayib Bukele pointed out that although Bitcoin has limited application in the country, it has enhanced El Salvador's "brand", attracted foreign investment, and promoted the development of tourism. Several Bitcoin companies have offices or headquarters in the country.
