Odaily Planet Daily News Indian cryptocurrency trading platform Mudrex recently obtained a court order requiring the Indian Ministry of Communications to shut down 38 websites that used its name to commit fraud. In its ruling on August 23, the Delhi High Court required the Ministry of Communications to execute it within a week. Mudrex applied to the court after about 15 people reported being defrauded. Mudrex estimates that the actual number of retail investors who have been deceived may be as high as 1,000, and the losses may exceed $500,000. Scammers impersonated Mudrex employees on Telegram, tricking investors into getting rewards and job opportunities by performing specific tasks (including writing Google reviews), and illegally collecting funds using websites with fake Mudrex names. Mudrex's legal director said this incident preceded the $234 million hack of the WazirX exchange. WazirX lost nearly 45% of its customer funds in the July attack and has been seeking a solution since then. (CoinDesk)
