Maverick Protocol Ecosystem Update | Q3, 2024

Since the launch of Maverick v2, the Maverick Ecosystem has seen exciting growth and Maverick has made significant progress towards becoming the most efficient, composable and sustainable liquidity operating system in DeFi.

While both core contributors and community contributors are hard at work shaping the future of DeFi, it is essential to keep the global community informed and aligned on the evolution of the protocol. This blog provides an update on the progress and status of the Maverick Ecosystem: what has been accomplished, what is currently in development, and what’s on the horizon.

Protocol Statics

Capital Efficiency

Since the launch of Maverick v2, the protocol has consistently demonstrated strong capital efficiency across multiple chains. On Layer 2 like Scroll and Base, Maverick v2 leads the way with a protocol capital efficiency frequently exceeding 300%.

Liquidity Incentives

The Maverick veFlywheel is effectively attracting long-term external liquidity incentives to the platform, benefiting projects like Lido, Aave, EtherFi, KelpDAO, and others by helping them bootstrap liquidity and achieve greater market depth. Each month, around $100,000 in raw incentives are deployed to Maverick Boosted Positions, along with over 500,000 MAV emissions.

Product Updates

Innovation drives Maverick’s builders and community. Even after the milestone v2 launch, Maverick’s core developers have consistently delivered new features and products. The product team remains dedicated to:

 • Supporting integrations and adoption of Maverick products, including LRT points systems.

 • Upgrading both backend and frontend systems to enhance user experience.

 • Launching new features that drive Maverick’s ongoing success in DeFi.

Some of the more notable updates since the v2 launch include:

Scroll Integration:

Maverick v2 deployed on Scroll on July 29, 2024, and within a week was among the top 3 DEXes ranked by trading volume. Since launch, Maverick has integrated with multiple LST and LRT tokens on Scroll, including EtherFi’s weETH, KelpDAO’s wrsETH, and StakeStone’s STONE.

By providing liquidity on Maverick, users are eligible to get Marks under Scroll Session 1. The Maverick dApp will be integrated on the Scroll Marks session 1 UI soon.

Base Name Integration

Maverick now supports Basenames! Users who have registered custom domain names via Basenames can now connect their wallet and see their Basename on the Maverick UI. Besides providing liquidity and making swaps, users can now bring their on-chain identity to Maverick on Base!

To broaden access to Maverick’s veFlywheel and enable incentivizers to bring in more types of raw incentives, Maverick upgraded the veFlywheel to permit matching of arbitrary tokens as of epoch 3. This allows incentivizers to nominate any token for liquidity incentivization on Maverick v2 and get MAV matching. As a result, LPs can receive and claim 100% arbitrary token incentives in addition to MAV emissions from the veFlywheel’s matching mechanisms.

Introducing Maverick v2 New Feature: Arbitrary Token Matching

UI Iteration

Maverick’s core contributors are always attentive to community feedback. Since the v2 launch, two major UI updates have been implemented based on this feedback:

 1. LP Reward Cards: Liquidity Providers can now view real-time rewards and maximum boosted rewards separately on position cards in their Portfolio, with clearer explanations appearing when they hover over the balance.

https://medium.com/media/5dd3a36c190d3e4db4ad95c7215251ab/href

2. Boosted Position APR: On the Boosted Position page, users can now see Cash on Cash APR, the token incentives contributing to that APR, and the Boosted APR (up to a maximum APR) achievable through MAV staking. This allows users to more intuitively select Boosted Positions and decide whether to stake MAV rewards before joining a Boosted Position.

Permissionless Token Listing

Lastly, Maverick v2 now supports the permissionless listing of tokens by contract address. Users can now import any token contract into the Maverick UI without needing centralized approval. These tokens can be used in pools, Boosted Positions, and as incentives, and will be available for swaps through the dApp. This creates new opportunities to build and bootstrap liquidity strategies for an ever-growing variety of tokens, including memecoins.

Documentation and Education

Education is a top priority for Maverick contributors. Following the v2 launch, and in response to community feedback, the educational documents have been updated. Maverick’s core contributors simplified the docs to better guide veMAV users and LPs in understanding their emissions, and to help incentivizers improve their incentivizing efficiency.

What’s Next at Maverick?

Maverick v2 includes a whole suite of new smart contracts, offering a set of innovations that collectively will serve to make Maverick the most powerful liquidity operating system in DeFi. You can find a summary of all the new features available under Maverick v2 here:

Maverick v2, DeFi’s Liquidity Operating System

Developers may be interested to review the v2 contracts on Github or read the complete v2 audit by OpenZeppelin.

However, like Rome, the Maverick liquidity operating system won’t be built in a day. At launch, it offers several key features, including the most gas-efficient concentrated-liquidity AMM, Programmable Pools, the Maverick veFlywheel design, and an any-token veFactory. While the AMM and veFlywheel are fully operational, the true potential of Programmable Pools and veFactory will be realized as developers continue building on these foundational tools — which is actively happening now!

Here’s a list of innovations currently being developed by the Maverick community:

 • Dynamic Pools

 • ve-Optimizers

 • Liquidity Optimizers

 • Fair Launch Protocol (or launchpad) leveraging Dynamic Distribution AMM properties

 • Novel Lending/Borrowing Mechanisms

These updates are just the beginning. As the Maverick community continues to build and innovate, contributors remain dedicated to equipping the community with cutting-edge tools and features to enhance their experience and success within the Maverick ecosystem.

Additionally, Maverick contributors are committed to maintaining healthy, efficient, and transparent communication within the community.

🎺Bonus: Maverick Limited-Time Grant

The Maverick Protocol is offering a limited-time grant to reward a skilled Community Data Scientist who can produce a comprehensive report on the performance of the Maverick veFlywheel. This Community Data Scientist can analyze the Maverick veFlywheel performance from Epoch 1 to Epoch 5, including but not limited to:

 • Emission distributions: How emissions are being distributed across the ecosystem.

 • User participation: The levels and patterns of engagement among veMAV holders.

 • ROI metrics: How effectively emissions have been used to bootstrap TVL.

 • Staking efficiency: What % of LPs choose to stake their MAV emissions, and for how long?

 • Comparative analysis: How Maverick’s veFlywheel performs relative to similar mechanisms in other DeFi ecosystems.

Grant size: 5,000 USDC
