Fruition Production also revealed that Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse declined to participate in the documentary. However, the studio managed to secure an interview with Ripple Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz.
Fruition Production, a US-based film and game production company, has announced the upcoming release of the long-anticipated documentary on Ripple’s XRP. The documentary, titled XRP Unleashed, is set to premiere on major video streaming platforms in November 2024.
On Monday, August 26, Fruition Production shared the news, stating that XRP Unleashed will be available for viewing on both Amazon Prime and AppleTV without their formal endorsement or support.
XRP Documentary to Hit Netflix
Although the company did not specifically mention other platforms like Netflix in the announcement, it responded to a comment by stating that the film will be available on several platforms to ensure that viewers can access it on their preferred service.
Fruition Production also disclosed that XRP Unleashed will be self-financed and distributed independently, without any third-party backing, to maintain full creative control. At first, the documentary will be available for rent. However, the company said it plans to explore moving it to AD-supported platforms in the coming years.
The Los Angeles-based studio plans to release the movie trailer in the coming weeks, ahead of the official debut in November.
The documentary will explore XRP’s journey from its inception to the present day. It will cover significant events related to the digital asset, including the ongoing legal battle between Ripple and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and its impact on the broader financial ecosystem.
Additionally, XRP Unleashed will examine other aspects of the digital asset including its growth and challenges. Viewers will gain insights into how XRP enables instant, low-cost value transfers, revolutionizing cross-border payments.
Beyond XRP, the documentary will delve into the broader crypto economy. The producers hinted in August that the film will explore asset tokenization and its potential benefits to the financial market as a whole.
Ripple CEO Declines to Appear
Fruition Production also revealed that Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse declined to participate in the documentary. However, the studio managed to secure an interview with Ripple Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz.
While defending Garlinghouse’s decision not to participate, the production team said it does not blame him due to the scope of the documentary.
“Brad and his executive team chose not to appear, although we did interview David. When you see the scope of what we’re covering, I don’t blame them at all. Resistance often involves demands for numerous story compromises, and then there’s arbitrary celebrity,” Fruition Production wrote in an August 26 post on X.
Crypto Documentaries Gaining Popularity
Meanwhile, XRP Unleashed is not the first crypto documentary to make headlines. In July, Vitalik: An Ethereum Story, a film exploring Vitalik Buterin’s journey and the evolution of Ethereum, was announced and is set to premiere in September.
Coinspeaker reported the documentary will touch on key events, such as the 2021 NFT boom and Ethereum’s transition to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism through the process known as the Merge.
Last year, another notable documentary titled Ruin covered the collapse of the crypto exchange FTX and the downfall of its CEO and founder, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF). The film detailed FTX’s brief liquidity crisis, eventual bankruptcy, and SBF’s conviction, as reported by major media outlets.
