[TON’s latest statement: Remain fully operational]
Following the arrest of Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov by French authorities, the TON community underscored its unwavering strength and commitment to its core values.
The report pointed out that the lack of effective content management on the Telegram platform led to rampant criminal activities, which was one of the main reasons for Durov being detained at Le Bourget Airport outside Paris. Despite this, the TON community continues to operate.
The community stated that it still fully supports decentralization and freedom of speech and is fully operational. Durov's vision is based on these concepts, and the TON community fully supports his efforts to promote an open and decentralized network.
Even with Durov's arrest, TON's blockchain project is still running as planned, allowing developers and users to continue working. The community acted quickly to assure users that network operations would not be affected.
However, the incident triggered market volatility. After news of Durov’s arrest broke, TON’s price dropped a whopping 20%, from $6.8 to about $5.36.
Despite the price drop, the TON community remains united and unswervingly supports its values, and the network is operating normally.
