CESS, a blockchain-based decentralized cloud storage network and CD²N infrastructure network, took center stage at IVS 2024, Japan’s annual crypto startup conference! Held in historic Kyoto, the event attracted more than 15,000 attendees, including 3,000+ founders, 1,500+ investors, and 3,500+ startups, all under the theme of “Crossing Borders.”
Highlights of the event
At the IVS 2024 conference, Joseph Li, co-founder of CESS, was invited to participate in the roundtable discussion at the main venue. He introduced the transformative potential of CESS and decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) to the participants. In addition, the roundtable also discussed the key role of computing power and data networks in the evolving technology field. Joseph Li emphasized the growing importance of decentralized solutions in the Web3 ecosystem, stating:
“The decentralized Web3 revolution is accelerating and replacing the slow, expensive, and centralized Web2. Now is the time for technology visionaries and builders to innovate, collaborate, and form partnerships to move the industry forward. CESS was built from the ground up to realize this important vision in the decentralized, user-owned Web3 and blockchain space.”
Combining innovation and tradition
IVS 2024 is an event that combines traditional Japanese technology culture with global advanced technology. Topics cover global financing, cross-border e-commerce, AI infrastructure, and personal data utilization, providing a comprehensive platform for discussing technological development and the future.
Demonstrating CESS’s innovation and industry engagement
During the panel discussion, Joseph Li highlighted CESS’s pioneering efforts, including its IEEE-approved standard number P3233 — Blockchain-based Decentralized Storage Protocol Specification. This milestone highlights CESS’ commitment to standardization and innovation in decentralized storage technology.
Recently, CESS also announced that it has joined the Blockchain Association to advocate for better and more transparent public policies for blockchain and crypto assets with industry leaders. This membership underscores CESS’s commitment to promoting innovation and advancing the responsible development of blockchain technology.
In addition, CESS is also one of the directors of the Hong Kong Web3.0 Standardization Association. CESS differentiates itself in the decentralized storage space through proprietary technology and numerous innovations. As a leading project of the third generation decentralized cloud storage protocol, CESS effectively solves key industry challenges such as low storage space utilization and slow data retrieval speed. The platform significantly improves data security and privacy management capabilities, realizes data value and circulation, provides higher reliability, and gives users ownership of their data. This also represents a major advancement in the field of data storage in the future.
Promoting the development of Web3 ecosystem
As a gold sponsor of IVS 2024, CESS plays a key role in promoting a strong and collaborative Web3 ecosystem. Joseph Li also discussed the importance of DePIN in driving global deployment of network nodes through innovative incentives. He noted:
“DePINs will allow different participants to share resources and build value in a secure, transparent and scalable manner. Leveraging a data value network that seamlessly trades, transfers and uses digital assets in the Web3 space, DePIN and its underlying CESS network will become one of the most influential technologies in the coming years.”
Demonstrating CESS advanced technology
At IVS 2024, CESS demonstrated its capabilities as the preferred decentralized cloud storage and decentralized content distribution network for Web3 applications. Technological advances such as innovative decentralized object storage (DeOSS) and multi-copy proof of recoverable storage (PoDR²) were the focus of the event, and the team demonstrated CESS's advanced data storage and retrieval solutions for high-frequency dynamic data to attendees. The key technologies are as follows:
Random Selection Consensus (R²S)
R²S is an innovative consensus algorithm based on Polkadot GRANDPA and NPoS. R²S achieves low gas fees, greatly improves the efficiency of on-chain transaction processing, and realizes great decentralization of CESS nodes across the entire network.
Proof of Replicated Recoverable Storage (PoDR²)
PoDR² is a zero-trust data backup and recovery proof algorithm. PoDR² is used to prove the authenticity of data (i.e., check and prove whether the data stored by the storage node is valid, exists, or modified), and is also used to recover damaged or lost data segments. This mechanism protects the integrity of data and avoids the risk of file loss.
Proof of Idle Space (PoIS)
CESS introduces PoIS to implement the idle space authentication, verification and deletion processes of storage nodes. The idle space proof organizes idle data in the form of files and uses the Merkle hash tree to verify the integrity of each idle file.
Proxy Re-Encryption (PReT)
PReT is a public key encryption scheme that allows user A to "delegate" his decryption authority to another user B. CESS introduces a decentralized proxy re-encryption mechanism, allowing data owners to change data ownership between users without disclosing data content, thereby maximizing the use value of data while ensuring privacy.
Multi-type data rights confirmation mechanism (MDRC)
The CESS network processes data, including digital fingerprint extraction — fingerprint on-chain — fingerprint comparison, etc. The digital fingerprint on-chain will serve as the only proof of data ownership. MDRC can ensure data ownership of the CESS network and return data ownership to the data owner.
CESS YOU GAP
CESS AI GAP is a Byzantine-robust circuit that protects user privacy and data sovereignty, allowing participants in each CESS node to collaboratively train shared models without sharing their own raw data.
Looking ahead
These innovations, along with CESS's firm commitment to data sovereignty and user privacy, place it at the center of the Web3 revolution. Using the DePIN concept to reshape the value distribution and free circulation of data assets, CESS will continue to promote the large-scale adoption of decentralized storage and decentralized content distribution networks (CD²N) in Web3 applications.
CESS has gained a lot from the IVS 2024 crypto event. Looking forward to the future, CESS will continue to make progress in decentralized technology and actively cooperate with innovative projects. Stay tuned!
