đ©đȘ BaFin has cracked down on crypto ATMs, seizing 13 machines from 35 locations for violating the Banking Act. The machines were allegedly not properly registered and risked attracting criminal activity if they did not have proper KYC controls.
đ Globally, the number of Bitcoin ATMs dropped sharply in July and early August, but has rebounded with 266 new machines since the start of August. The decline was partly due to shutdowns in the US, including Bitcoin of America being forced to shut down operations in Connecticut and paying $86,000 to victims.
