Odaily Planet Daily News: At a hearing held at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 19, Judge Jessica Clarke ordered the Peraire-Bueno brothers to stand trial on October 14, 2025, on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Justice Department officials allege that the brothers allegedly used the MEV robot vulnerability to steal $25 million in cryptocurrency "in approximately 12 seconds." U.S. authorities arrested the Peraire-Bueno brothers in May, and they are now each released on $250,000 bail and subject to certain travel restrictions. U.S. authorities also said that the brothers refused a request to return the stolen funds and used shell companies and foreign cryptocurrency exchanges to hide the assets, transferring them to several wallets. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison for each charge. (Cointelegraph)
