Lawyers for Bitcoin Fog founder Roman Sterlingov are arguing for a lengthy prison sentence after he was convicted of money laundering.
- Sterlingov was convicted in March of money laundering, conspiracy to launder money, and operating an unlicensed money transmitting service.
- The US government alleges Bitcoin Fog helped move about $400 million in BTC related to illegal activities.
- Sterlingov’s lawyer argues a lengthy prison sentence is unnecessary and the evidence is largely circumstantial.
The trial is scheduled for August 21 but will consider the assets involved, including 1,354 BTC in a Bitcoin Fog wallet.
Roman Storm, co-founder of Tornado Cash, is also facing similar charges and is due in court in December.
