Iran is offering 1 million tomans (about $240) to citizens who report illegal #bitcoin mining operations to ease pressure on the power grid, which is struggling due to record heat.

Iran has so far discovered 230,000 illegal mining rigs, consuming up to 900 megawatts of electricity, equivalent to the electricity of a province with a population of 1.4 million.

The Iranian government legalized crypto mining in 2019 but recently had to halt it due to severe power shortages.
