PANews reported on August 15 that according to Caixin.com, the Malaysian police recently cracked a kidnapping case involving Chinese citizens. In the operation in Skudai, Johor, the police shot and killed four suspects and arrested 10 people. They are still hunting for three men and one woman. The victim was a Chinese man who was kidnapped after arriving in Malaysia in July this year. After his family paid a ransom of US$1.2 million (approximately RMB 8.62 million) through virtual currency, the two victims were finally released. The police recovered about US$373,000 (approximately RMB 2.68 million) in cash, as well as vehicles, watches, jewelry and other items worth about US$700,000 (approximately RMB 5.02 million). The mastermind of the case was the victim's private driver.
