Iranian authorities will pay $20 for reporting illegal mining
Iran has recorded abnormal heat.
The temperature jump has created an additional load on the power grid.
In this regard, the authorities have introduced a financial incentive to combat illegal mining.
In Iran, citizens who notify the authorities about illegal cryptocurrency mining will receive a reward of 1 million tomans (about $20). This was reported by local media, citing the director of the state-owned electricity company Tavanir, Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi.
The head of Tavanir also said that 230,000 cryptocurrency mining devices that are connected to the grid illegally have been discovered in the country. Their total capacity is estimated at 800-900 MW. Their energy consumption is comparable to that of Markazi Province, he added.
