The Russian Finance Ministry and the Central Bank are in talks to launch a national cryptocurrency exchange, a bold move that could transform the countryâs financial landscape! While discussions are ongoing, no final decisions have been made yet, and tensions are mounting over this potential financial revolution.
According to information revealed by the state news agency TASS, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov confirmed the negotiations between the ministry and the Bank of Russia. Siluanov clarified that although the discussions are progressing, no concrete solution has been found yet.

The move is part of broader legislation initiated by President Vladimir Putin, who signed a law in early August legalizing cryptocurrency mining in Russia. The legislation aims to establish a legal framework for the issuance and circulation of cryptocurrencies, although they remain prohibited as legal tender.
Russia, already the worldâs second-largest Bitcoin miner, seems determined to exploit this capability by facilitating legal crypto activities on its soil. Moreover, the country is also exploring ways to integrate cryptocurrencies into its financial system to facilitate cross-border trade. Last July, the Ministry of Finance discussed the possibility of allowing crypto trading on traditional exchanges, but only for professional investors. However, no progress has been confirmed yet.
