Bitfarms founder Nicolas Bonta has announced that he will step down as a member of the company's board of directors after facing pressure from rival Bitcoin miner Riot Platforms. Following the departure of the former board chairman, Bitfarms announced the appointment of Brian Howlett as its new chairman. In addition, Ben Gagnon, who was appointed as Bitfarms CEO last month, will also join the board. The changes came after Riot Platforms accused Bitfarms of "poor corporate governance practices and continued failure to realize its full potential." Riot had previously attempted to acquire Bitfarms, and as of July 29, Riot held 16.9% of Bitfarms' shares. (Blockworks)
