Dogizen, a brand new tap-to-earn (T2E) game, brings man’s best friend to Telegram when it launches on 15th August at 10 a.m. UTC, building a thriving community of casual gamers around the world.

The game builds on the success of industry titans like Hamster Kombat and Catizen, combining addictive tapping, social gaming, and furry friends, and aims to become the top animal-themed T2E game around, taking the sector to the next level.

Becoming Global Dogizens

Dogizen answers the call put out by Telegram’s founder, Pavel Durov, for a dog-themed chapter in the burgeoning T2E space: ‘Well done, Catizen team — now I’m waiting for you to develop a “Dogizen!”

Well, here we are. The game features mechanics familiar to players of Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, and Catizen, which between them boast over 350 million players globally: players tap their screen to earn Treatz tokens, which can then be used to complete tasks in game, earn XP points, and earn even more Treatz.

The premise of the game involves the player taking their dog around the world; visiting tourist destinations, seeing sights, and taking in everything each location has to offer. After completing all tasks for each location, new areas of the map are unlocked, with players gradually adding new stamps to their dog passports.

As players progress within the game, completing tasks and exploring new destinations, they unlock new ways to generate idle earnings—meaning Treatz tokens will keep rolling in, even without the core tapping mechanics.

Further down the line, there are plans for the Dogizen Universe, a launchpad for new Telegram mini games created by community members. This is just one feature sure to foster a strong, vibrant community, alongside a rewarding referral system and full-blown social gaming capabilities planned later in the roadmap.

The tap-to-earn revolution

Tap-to-earn has been an unexpected revolution for gaming in 2024, and is taking place on Telegram, of all places. The likes of Catizen and Hamster Kombat have captured a huge portion of Telegram’s base of 900 million users, with proponents extolling the low barrier to entry. This has led to an estimated 400 million players worldwide.

No expensive consoles, no custom-built PCs—you only need a smartphone and the messaging app to start gaming. This explains why the developing world has been such a catalyst here, with countries like Nigeria and the Philippines driving adoption.

T2E has also been credited with onboarding huge numbers of new users into the crypto space. Telegram’s native blockchain, TON, equips users with an integrated wallet, circumventing the notoriously laborious and complicated process of setting up a traditional crypto wallet.

Several projects—including Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, and Catizen—have conducted, or are planning, airdrops of crypto tokens to players. Airdrops like this typically favor players with large in-game balances, high playtimes, and regular interactions, incentivizing a strong community and an engaged player base.

This adds another layer to game engagement, with top players hoping to generate income from their adventures, but it remains to be seen whether this will be part of Dogizen.
