According to the Associated Press on August 8, US Republican presidential candidate Trump once again promised to debate Vice President Kamala Harris after recently defaulting on his promise. He held a lengthy press conference on the 8th, mocking his new opponent, boasting about the performance of his supporters on January 6, 2021, and slamming questions about the enthusiasm of her campaign.
As the Republican presidential candidate spoke to reporters at his estate in Palm Beach, Florida, ABC announced that Trump and Harris had agreed to hold a debate on September 10, a widely anticipated showdown in an already unprecedented election. Trump said he had proposed three debates on three networks in September.
Hours after Trump's news conference ended, Harris told reporters she was "so glad he finally committed" to a debate with her on ABC on Sept. 10, the date originally set for Biden and Trump to duel and a date her campaign had been sticking to.
She said: "I am looking forward to it and hope that he will show up."
The event on the 8th was Trump's first public appearance since Harris chose Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz as his running mate. Trump called Waltz a "radical leftist."
