Trump Raises $25 Million in Crypto
Former U.S. President and presidential candidate Donald Trump revealed during his keynote speech at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday that his campaign has raised $25 million since it began accepting donations in cryptocurrencies. Trump’s fundraising at the Nashville conference was anticipated to be substantial. U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), who attended the event, stated that the total amount raised was expected to be an “eye-popping” number.
“I’m proud to be the first major party nominee in American history to accept donations in bitcoin and crypto, and they’ve made a lot of them I might tell you, and I appreciate it. Since we made that announcement on May 21, we have already raised $25 million — much of it in bitcoin, crypto, and others that are very, very good also,” Trump said at the conference.
David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, which organized the event, shared Trump’s successful fundraising efforts in Nashville on social media platform X on Monday. The event attracted significant contributions from industry leaders and prominent bitcoin investors, often referred to as whales or OGs. Bailey wrote:
For those of you who didn’t hear it in Trump’s speech, DJT raised $25m in Nashville. His second highest fundraiser ever across three different presidential campaigns. Came from a combo of industry and whales/OGs.
Bailey also criticized U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and her associates, accusing them of leading Democrats into self-destructive behavior. His remarks highlight the ongoing political friction and reveal the influence of cryptocurrency advocates on current political events. He wrote:
Warren and her goons talked Dems into committing mass seppuku.
Senator Warren has been a vocal critic of cryptocurrency, citing national security and financial system risks. She alleges that foreign governments use crypto mining to spy on U.S. military operations and calls for stricter regulations to prevent such activities.
Trump has made several promises regarding bitcoin, including stopping Warren’s anti-crypto initiatives. At the Bitcoin Conference, he pledged to replace U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler on his first day in office and to appoint someone knowledgeable about the crypto industry. He also vowed that the U.S. government would keep all its seized bitcoin.
