Technical solutions

The Movement Network has three main components that enhance its performance, security, and interoperability: the Move executor, the staking settlement module, and the decentralized shared sorter (M1).

By leveraging a network of attesters who stake assets to verify state transitions, the module ensures high economic security and reduces latency. Validators stake assets and prove the correctness of state transitions, combining the security benefits of staking with the efficiency of fast transaction finality.

Security Mechanism

- Ethereum Settlement: Validators stake assets to provide economic security, ensuring a significant financial interest in the integrity of the network.

- zk and optimistic rollups: zk-rollups provide security through validity proofs, while optimistic rollups rely on challenge periods to resolve disputes. Both methods have higher latency and computational costs.

- Staking Rollups: Provide fast finality and high economic security without extensive proof generation or challenge periods, reducing latency and improving user experience compared to zk and optimistic rollups.

Comparison with other Rollups

- Staking Rollups do not require expensive proof generation equipment, unlike zk-rollups.

- Staking rollups significantly reduce latency compared to optimistic and zk-rollups, finality can be achieved in seconds.

- Fast finality is critical for interoperability and cross-Rollup atomic transactions, making staking Rollups an ideal solution for many applications.

3. Decentralized Shared Sorter (M1)

The M1 sorter is a decentralized and shared sorting mechanism that enhances the robustness, fairness, and censorship resistance of the network. By providing customizable transaction sorting, M1 supports cross-chain atomic swaps and liquidity pools within the Move Arena ecosystem. This shared sorter ensures fair and efficient transaction sorting for all participating Rollups.
