US Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming is pushing for legislation called the "2024 BITCOIN Act", which plans to purchase no more than 200,000 bitcoins per year for 5 years, totaling 1 million bitcoins! đ°
The bill also includes: requiring the Treasury Department to publish quarterly reports, allowing states to store bitcoins as reserves, and adjusting gold certificates. Lummis said that while it is unlikely to be signed into law this year, it may be considered after the November election.
