According to Cointelegraph, The Ronin network has outpaced other blockchains in daily active users (DAU) as its gaming-focused ecosystem reached significant milestones in 2024. On July 29, data from the onchain platform Token Terminal indicated that Ronin recorded a DAU count of two million, surpassing other active blockchains such as Tron (TRXUSD) and Solana (SOLUSD). Tron followed with 1.8 million active users, while Solana had 1.2 million users in the past 24 hours.
According to Token Terminal, the DAU chart reflects the number of distinct addresses interacting with business-relevant contracts, encompassing users engaging and transacting within the network.
The Ronin ecosystem continues to grow
In a mid-year review published on July 23, the Ronin team discussed factors contributing to the rise in active users. The growth in the first half of 2024 was partly attributed to an increase in volume on the non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace Mavis Market and the listing of the Ronin (RON) token on Binance. The team believes these developments provided users with a "portal" into their "gamers country."
Additionally, the team reported 12 million RON holders and over three million downloads for its Ronin Wallet. The network now boasts 15 playable games, with more in development.
Pixels migration and zkEVM plans
Pixels, one of the largest Web3 games by user count, migrated to Ronin in February 2024. The network noted that the game reached a peak of 1.7 million monthly active users in June. Players have spent over 15 million in Pixels (PIXEL) tokens for VIP coupons over the past year.
Beyond gaming, the Ronin network has also enhanced its technology stack. On June 18, the network announced plans to introduce Ronin zkEVM, a zero-knowledge (ZK) Ethereum Virtual Machine layer-2 chain utilizing a modified version of the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK). According to Sky Mavis, the team behind Ronin, this will "further decentralize Ronin" using ZK-proof layer-2 rollups, preparing the network to handle billions of transactions in the future.
