According to TechFlow, on July 27, Coindesk reported that 14 Democratic congressmen, including Ro Khanna, wrote to the Democratic National Committee of the United States, requesting that content supporting cryptocurrency be added to the party platform. In addition, they also proposed to select a vice presidential candidate who supports cryptocurrency and understands digital assets, and replace the current Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler, with a chairman who supports innovation.

The letter calls on Democrats to take a "forward-looking approach" to digital assets to match the pro-crypto stance already taken by Republicans. The letter states that supporting these innovative technologies will help re-establish the United States' leadership in the global digital economy. The proposal was signed by 14 current members of Congress and 14 congressional candidates and announced at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
