In the summer of 2024, the Web3 bootcamp co-hosted by Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs and OnePiece Labs came to a successful conclusion. This online feast spanning several weeks attracted enthusiastic followers of Web3 technology from all over the world. The participants of this event were very diverse, including outstanding figures in the field of technology, visionary entrepreneurs, and thirsty explorers. They have great enthusiasm and interest in the transformative potential of blockchain technology and its application prospects. Web3 Bootcamp has successfully launched a series of engaging webinars hosted by top industry experts, which are carefully designed to comprehensively cover the key topics necessary for the rapid development of the Web3 ecosystem.

These workshops provided in-depth analysis of key topics, and guests also shared valuable insights on Web3 basics and advanced concepts, ensuring that participants could fully and deeply grasp the essence of this revolutionary field.

Web3 and blockchain

Yat Siu, Chairman of Animoca Brands, was the keynote speaker at the first webinar of the 2024 HarvardAE Web3 Bootcamp. He kicked off the event with his deep insights into a number of key topics. Yat’s presentation was rich and profound, not only analyzing the core principles of Web3 and blockchain, but also exploring the political and economic impact of this technology, and providing a new interpretation of the concepts of ownership and capitalism in the blockchain industry. He also discussed the shared growth model, the new era of the gaming industry, and the promotion of ownership and capital formation, setting a high standard for the subsequent agenda of the bootcamp and firing the first shot.

Smart Contracts

At the second webinar of HarvardAE Web3 Bootcamp, George Melika, co-founder and CEO of VoltaCircuit, took the stage to give attendees a deep analysis of the nature of cryptocurrency and its evolution, giving a thoughtful and rich speech. George conducted an in-depth analysis of the functions and mechanisms of smart contracts, and discussed the difficulties they encountered and their development potential. With his professional insight, George Melika successfully revealed the essence behind these complex topics, providing participants with a comprehensive and in-depth interpretation of the dynamics of blockchain technology, so that they can better prepare for future changes in the industry.

Centralized Exchanges (CEX) and Decentralized Exchanges (DEX)

The third webinar of HarvardAE Web3 Bootcamp was hosted by Haider Rafique, Chief Marketing Officer of OKX, who conducted a detailed comparative analysis of centralized exchanges (CEX) and decentralized exchanges (DEX). Haider not only provided his forward-looking views on the future direction of cryptocurrency trading platforms, but also shared OKX's strategic layout in the industry. His profound insights gave the audience a deep understanding of the development momentum of cryptocurrency trading platforms and revealed the innovative strategies that drive OKX's continued growth.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs)

In the fourth engaging webinar of HarvardAE Web3 Bootcamp, Dirk Lueth, co-founder and co-CEO of Upland, reviewed the development of Upland since its founding in detail, including token issuance strategy, compliance, upcoming partners and upcoming features, and made a detailed comparative analysis of Upland and other virtual world projects. In the fifth webinar of HarvardAE Web3 Bootcamp, Paul Taylor, a highly respected investment pioneer, was the guest speaker and revealed the essence of token economics to the participants. Paul explained in detail the core principles of token design, its practical application scenarios and distribution models, and clearly demonstrated how these elements work together to drive the value growth and continuous progress of blockchain projects. His profound insights helped participants realize the strategic value of token economics in the decentralized financial ecosystem.

Decentralized Finance (DeFi)

At the sixth webinar of HarvardAE Web3 Bootcamp, Michael Heinrich, co-founder of 0G, made a shining guest appearance as a speaker. As a key driver of this financial revolution, he promotes open and barrier-free financial services to benefit everyone. In his speech, Michael explored in depth 0G's innovative measures in achieving financial democratization, analyzed the great possibility that DeFi can subvert the traditional banking system, and put forward insights into the future direction of open financial services. Heinrich's speech not only highlighted the transformative power of DeFi, but also inspired the audience to envision a more inclusive and fair financial ecosystem.

Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO)

Ken Nim, co-founder of Offchain San Francisco, was the guest speaker at the seventh HarvardAE Web3 Bootcamp workshop, where he led the audience to explore the new era of empowerment opened by decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). Nim showed us how to promote community-driven innovation by leveraging the collective wisdom and transparency of these innovative digital entities. His unique insights made the attendees deeply realize the huge potential of DAOs in reshaping organizational forms and their role in achieving effective and transparent cooperation among communities.

Web3 and AI

As the last speaker of the webinar, Professor Qi Xiaoliang from Stanford University brought the event to a new climax with his lively speech. His insightful discussion on the combination of Web3 and artificial intelligence attracted the attention of the audience, revealing the depth and breadth of the potential integration of these two technical fields and deepening their understanding of future technological development trends. The seminar ended perfectly with an exciting Q&A session. The audience seized the precious opportunity to talk directly with Professor Qi, making this event an unforgettable and educational experience.

Workshop: Embark on an unparalleled learning adventure

The first session of the bootcamp was led by Cony Jin, Senior Marketing Manager at OKX, who gave a fascinating talk on the topic of creating a decentralized wallet. Jin detailed the features of the OKX wallet, the user registration process, and strategies for how to effectively protect the wallet’s security.

The second exchange was followed by a highly anticipated roadshow event, where many outstanding teams appeared and presented their cutting-edge innovative projects. The event was fortunate to have two outstanding judges: Julian Love, venture capitalist at Franklin Templeton Venture Capital Digital Assets, and Eric Gilbert-Williams, co-founder and CEO of The Public Bored.
