US Vice President Kamala Harris will likely be much more open to technological innovation and cryptocurrency than President Joe Biden, billionaire investor Mark Cuban told CBS News on July 23.

According to Cuban, the tech industry may have an unexpected ally in the vice president of the United States, who previously served as a senator and attorney general of California.

“The feedback I got, but certainly not confirmed by the vice president, was that she would be much more open to business, AI, crypto and government as a service,” Cuban said in an interview via email, and added:

“Changing the policies changes the message and lets people know that she is leading and truly open for business.”

Harris' team is said to have approached executives in the crypto industry seeking opinions on crypto policy, Cuban said. She has just four weeks until the Democratic National Convention to present her agenda.

Another tech CEO noted that Harris has an opportunity to attract support and donations from West Coast tech executives and venture capitalists who hope to see action on issues that The Biden administration leaves behind, for example, immigration reform for high-skilled workers and clear regulation of artificial intelligence.

“If by the end of this week, she has a technology policy framework out there – a 10-point plan on pro-business, tech, startups – and it's credible, I think she can very quickly assembled a significant portion of the ecosystem,” Aaron Levie, CEO of cloud computing company Box, told Politico.

According to Levie, the vice president could rally support from “more than a dozen tech CEOs” if she pushes for a tech-friendly approach to policy.

Harris's presidential campaign raised more than $100 million in less than 48 hours after President Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed her as his nominee, according to Team Harris. Donations came from 1.1 million unique supporters, including 62% who were first-time donors.
