🚨 $235M INDIAN CRYPTO EXCHANGE HACK 🚨
Web3 security firm Cyvers has identified “multiple suspicious transactions” involving the Safe Multisig wallet of Indian crypto exchange WazirX on Ethereum. A staggering $234.9 million has been moved to a new address, with each transaction’s caller funded by Tornado Cash, a decentralized protocol for private transactions.
🔍 Funds Converted to Ether 🔍
The stolen funds, which included Tether (USDT), Pepe (PEPE), and Gala (GALA), have been converted into Ether (ETH).
💰 Over $210 Million Left to Offload
According to crypto investigator ZachXBT, the suspected primary attacker’s address still holds over $104 million to dump. The wallet primarily contains:
$100 million Shiba Inu (SHIB)
$52 million Ether (ETH)
$11 million Polygon (MATIC)
$4.7 million FLOKI
$3.2 million Fantom (FTM)
$2.8 million Chainlink (LINK)
$2.3 million Fetch.ai (FET)
Various other tokens making up the remaining funds.
🚫 WazirX Suspends Withdrawals 🚫
In response to the security breach, WazirX has paused the withdrawal of cryptocurrencies and Indian rupees. The exchange announced on X (formerly Twitter) that they are “actively investigating the incident” and will provide updates as the situation evolves.
