According to TechFlow, the Polygon Foundation announced on the X platform that the Polygon mainnet upgrade is scheduled for September 4, 2024. After community approval, POL will replace MATIC as the native gas and staking token of Polygon PoS. In the subsequent stages, POL will play a key role in the AggLayer.
