The "emergency sale" has concluded with sales proceeds of $2.88 billion (€2.639 billion), compared to the approximately $2.1 billion value of the bitcoins seized by German law enforcement. German law enforcement said the proceeds do not represent additional revenue for the Free State of Saxony and will be withheld until the final conclusion of the criminal proceedings. The sale, which totaled 49,858 bitcoins, took place between June 19 and July 12 and was coordinated by the Central Office for the Protection, Custody and Use of Cryptocurrencies of the Saxony State Police, the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office and German trading firm Bankhaus Scheich.
