Metaplanet, the Japanese public company often compared to MicroStrategy, has purchased an additional 21.88 Bitcoin, worth 200 million Japanese Yen ($1.2 million), bringing the company's total BTC holdings to 225, 6 BTC, worth over $14.5 million.
This new purchase follows its most recent purchase last week when the company announced it had added 400 million Japanese Yen worth of Bitcoin to its portfolio. The average purchase price per Bitcoin is approximately $62,800.
Metaplanet has been steadily buying BTC since April this year. The company has made Bitcoin its primary treasury reserve asset, with the goal of maximizing shareholder value through the continuous and strategic accumulation of Bitcoin.
Metaplanet's Bitcoin-focused strategy is similar to other major companies like MicroStrategy. As of July 15, MicroStrategy held 226,331 BTC, worth about $14.6 billion.
