Donald Trump NFTs soar and prices reach new record
Trump non-fungible collectible tokens rose to a record high of US$ 502
The floor price of Donald Trump's NFTs shot to a new all-time high following a failed assassination attempt against the former US president.
Collectible non-fungible tokens created on Polygon reached an all-time high of 933 MATIC (US$ 502), according to data collected from several NFT marketplaces.
This has since cooled off, with its minimum price hovering around 762 MATIC (US$ 410), according to data from the Magic Eden marketplace.
Just a few days earlier, these same NFTs were trading for about half that value, at US$$ 228 each. The second series of Trump digital cards also rose 20% to 163 MATIC (US$ 233).
This comes one day after Donald Trump was shot in the right ear by a 20-year-old gunman, who was killed at the scene during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday (13).
The cryptocurrency market came to life over the weekend after dramatic scenes from the rally unfolded and were later shared online.
While Trump-inspired memecoins have seen a surge, the trading fervor has also spread to other industry verticals, including blockchain betting platform Polymarket, where the odds of Trump returning to the White House have risen to 70%.
Trump's NFTs
The NFTs formally launched by the former president in December 2022 and April 2023 have had mixed results since their launch.
Each card typically depicts Trump in various heroic, patriotic or fantastic settings. At the time of its release, the first edition promised a series of benefits, including a meeting with Trump.
The Series 2 set, whose NFT artwork includes Trump carrying a professional wrestling championship belt, attempted to build on the success of the first series launch.
