BitConnect promoter John Bigatton convicted in Australia
On July 15, John Bigatton, the Australian promoter of the now-defunct cryptocurrency trading platform BitConnect, was convicted by the Sydney District Court for providing unlicensed financial advice. According to court records and a statement from the country's corporate regulator on Sunday, John Bigatton was sentenced to three years of good behavior recognition on Friday and was disqualified from managing a company for five years. The proceedings are now being supervised by the Australian Federal Police under the Proceeds of Crime Act and are still ongoing in the New South Wales Supreme Court.
