England Sells This Altcoin: Price Is Rising Despite Everything!
The UK government seized and sold altcoins obtained from drug sales.
England found Jack Finney guilty of selling deadly drugs that he put on the market under the name of "weight loss pills". Finney returned the 23 thousand Euros he earned from the sale of this drug to the government.
The person received some of the payments through the Deep Web platform and in Monero (XMR). For this reason, he delivered 15 thousand Euros to the government in XMR.
The government sold these XMR assets through the Food Standards Agency (FSA) for €15,000.
The rest of the money came from the sale of Finney's Suzuki Vitara SUV for 6,240 euros and 1,775 euros in cash.
Crown Prosecution Service Crown Prosecutor Adrian Foster said:
It took several years for justice to be fully achieved, but we are confident that Jack Finney will never see the €23,000 he made selling lethal so-called 'weight loss' drugs and anabolic steroids on the dark web.
This is the first time we have converted Monero into cash. This suggests that criminals cannot hide their money in any cryptocurrency in the hope that it will be safe from the authorities.
Price not affected
The fact that the amount was not large and the positive atmosphere of the market due to the FED prevented the XMR price from experiencing serious declines. The price did not break the upward trend it has exhibited for the last 2-3 days.
According to CoinGecko data, XMR, which has increased by 2.5% in the last 24 hours, is traded at $ 161 at the time of writing.
