According to TechFlow, Consensys, the developer of MetaMask, announced the acquisition of the crypto security application Wallet Guard to enhance the security of MetaMask. Wallet Guard provides a popular browser extension that identifies scams and wallet thefts in real time. Consensys plans to integrate Wallet Guard's browser extension and security engine capabilities into MetaMask to further protect users' wallets, digital assets, and data from theft and fraud.
In this transaction, the Wallet Guard team will join Consensys as a whole. It is worth noting that in February this year, Consensys has integrated Blockaid security alerts in MetaMask, which is expected to prevent hundreds of millions of dollars in crypto assets from being stolen in 2024. According to a report by Chainalysis, the value of crypto assets stolen through scams in 2023 exceeded $1.7 billion.
