The DFSA's director of fintech, payment services and governance, Tobias Thygesen, clarified that the information circulating on social media is incorrect. 🕵️‍♂️

Self-custodied wallets allow users to store cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) without intermediaries, meaning they have full control over the stored cryptocurrencies. 🏦

Despite not being subject to the Regulation of Markets in Cryptoassets (MiCA), some software wallets could be regulated by MiCA if they are not provided in a completely decentralized manner. 🧐
