According to Forbes, billionaire Steve Cohen’s venture capital firm Point72 Ventures is laying off five of its investors in the fintech and cryptocurrency sectors and shifting its focus to artificial intelligence and defense technology startups. It is reported that the departures include three fintech-focused investors and two digital asset team members.
Since its founding in 2016, Point72 Ventures has invested in more than 100 startups in the fields of fintech, artificial intelligence, consumer, enterprise and defense technology, of which 65 are fintech companies. As the investment boom in the fintech field subsides, Point72 Ventures is investing more resources in the fast-growing field of artificial intelligence.
