OpenAI has inked a multi-year content deal with Time, allowing the AI company to train its models on over a century of Time's work. However, OpenAI and its partner Microsoft are facing another lawsuit, this time from the nonprofit Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR). The CIR alleges that OpenAI used its copyrighted material for AI training without permission or compensation. This lawsuit follows similar ones from the New York Times, the New York Daily News, and others. Despite these legal issues, OpenAI continues to expand, recently acquiring data analytics firm Rockset and forming new media partnerships.
