"Stablize"
Half a month ago, I had dinner with some of my former Alibaba friends and colleagues, and the news I heard was:
Colleague: "Do you know xxx? He was laid off a while ago."
Me: "Ah? He worked the most overtime, and his qualifications and abilities are very good, so why was he laid off?"
Colleague: "Hey... every quarter one has to be chosen, it's either him or someone else, everyone is waiting to see if they might be the next one."
Friend: "You know, my boss is going to be laid off soon. When we were in a meeting, a colleague asked him a business question. He suddenly got upset and asked why he had to ask me everything! I don’t know what to do! I can’t solve it! I’m leaving soon too!"
Me: (feeling a wave of emotional suffocation) "What about you guys?"
Friend: "Either leave together, or be transferred to another department to continue living..."
Coincidentally, a few days ago, a colleague from web3 also told me that the business line of my previous company was unable to obtain financing and was also laying off employees.
The conditions offered were that you either cut your salary by half and wait for new financing to come in, or just leave.
Among my former colleagues, there are those who have just graduated and have never experienced layoffs and are confused and helpless, there are those who have children and elderly people to take care of at home, and there are those who have just taken out loans to buy school district houses...
Find a new job? Arbitration? Endure it? Everyone is probably very entangled, anxious and in pain.
Even my friends who work in state-owned enterprises that everyone envies have had their salaries cut by half, and their year-end bonuses have not been paid since last year.
The education we have received since childhood is "Study hard so that you can work for a good company." However, we study hard and work hard, but we put ourselves in a situation where we are at the mercy of others.
Previously, NetEase News released a documentary called "Working Like This for Thirty Years" which was blocked several times: After thirty years of working in the city, the first generation of migrant workers in China are unable to retire due to illnesses and face many difficulties in their retirement. Some start waiting for work at 4 a.m., some have no money to pay for the 380 yuan medical insurance, and some struggle to support the third generation...
Nowadays, young people cannot find jobs even if they graduate from 211 or 985 universities, and those who find jobs in 996 or 007 universities cannot escape the risk of layoffs. Therefore, not getting married, buying a house, having children, or working has become the most silent resistance of our generation...
I also didn't believe in superstition and tossed around in web2 for a few years. I worked as a cog in a big company, but I didn't have any other skills except writing product documentation. I used to be a host and made millions in a single GMV, but I found that the harder I worked, the better car my boss drove. I also resisted starting my own business, but I found that the traditional industries were really swept away without a penny left.
So when I entered web3, I really opened the door to a new world, and I felt very lucky because we were doing the work we liked and entered the industry where it was easiest to "work without going to work" and to cross classes. Although the risks here are high, whether it is investment risk or the risk of working for the project party and then losing the project, at least this is a place where you can use your talents and work a little harder, even if you are a deliveryman or someone at the bottom of society, you can be seen relatively equally.
There are no stable jobs or careers in this era. The final result of all stability-oriented jobs may be that you are at the mercy of others and have no power to do anything. Where there are risks, there are opportunities. Only in this industry can we see a glimmer of hope.
When the market is bad and causing panic, some people are losing money, some are collapsing, some are cutting their losses, and some are cursing, while those who see opportunities, some are shorting, some are waiting, and some are buying at the bottom.
But I hope that no matter what, we can all "survive" in this industry and live longer.
Thanks to this industry, we can at least still have dreams to pursue. #以太坊ETF批准预期 #CryptoTradingGuide #Meme板块普涨 #美联储何时降息? #VanEck提交首个SolanaETF
