Optimism (OP) is a project focused on scaling the Ethereum blockchain. Below is an overview of the features provided by Optimism, Ethereum's second-layer blockchain. Optimism is a second-layer scaling solution built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. It facilitates faster and cheaper transactions compared to the Ethereum mainnet. Optimism achieves this by using a technique called "optimistic rollups".
Scalability of Optimistic Rollups. Optimistic Rollups process transactions off-chain (on Optimism) and then bundle and secure them on the Ethereum mainnet. This reduces the load on the mainnet, resulting in faster transaction processing and lower fees.
OP Tokens and Governance. OP is the native token of the Optimism ecosystem. The platform has just recently been launched. BTC88077; Designed to promote decentralized governance, OP token holders will have a say in future upgrades and proposals for the Optimism protocol.
