A reader asked the following question in the comment section:
If you can invest enough time, have strong execution and willingness to learn, how can you go from zero to $100,000 relatively quickly in the blockchain industry?
Seeing this question, I feel a bit complicated:
The first thing that comes to my mind is that sometimes people really need luck. Sometimes the importance of luck may exceed all other factors.
I was lucky to be able to enter this ecosystem.
Looking back to when I first started writing articles in 2019, the investment price of Bitcoin I set was only US$8,000 to US$10,000, and the investment price of Ethereum was only US$400.
Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, under the market conditions at that time, it would conservatively have taken only two years to grow to $100,000 with an initial capital of less than $20,000.
However, time flies, and in just a few short years, such a situation will never happen again.
Under today's market conditions, there will still be many opportunities for the new generation to enter this ecosystem, but with the same efforts and sweat we put in back then, can they still get the same returns within two years as those lucky ones did?
I'm not sure, and I'm afraid it's difficult to give very precise advice.
However, there is one point of view that I think should be applicable in any era, and that is an old saying from our ancestors: Wealth does not come in a hurry.
I suggest that the new generation of investors who hope to invest in and cultivate this ecosystem should not be too hasty when entering this ecosystem. It is better to look at the various phenomena in this ecosystem with a normal and rational mindset, especially to look at those "get rich quick" myths with a normal mind.
When I first entered this ecosystem, I was also excited and excited by the myths of getting rich quickly. But as time goes by, I have become indifferent to those experiences. There is only one type of experience that I still think is very precious, misses very much, and often gives me motivation:
It was the scene when I asked some questions to the seniors in this ecosystem, especially those about the blockchain spirit, blockchain ecological values, and the value orientation of blockchain project performance, and that senior gave me careful guidance.
At that time, my seniors would often condescend to talk to me for several hours or even half a day about one or two issues. They would share their understanding of values and orientation through the history of Bitcoin, their experiences, and their understanding, and how they viewed and understood a project.
So much so that today, whenever I see some opinions of my predecessors, I can guess why he thought so and what his judgment was without having to read his words carefully.
When discussing issues with seniors, I would forget about the ups and downs of coin prices, market trends, and the myth of getting rich quickly, and would look at the past, present, and future of a project from a fundamental perspective. I would think about whether the development of a project is in line with the trend of this ecosystem, whether its characteristics are in line with the values of this ecosystem, and whether it is a real blockchain project or a fake thing in disguise.
If we can think through these issues, when we look at a project, we will naturally be able to judge its value, think of its future prospects and potential, and not panic when the price of a good project plummets but will instead increase our holdings with joy. We will also be able to see the infinite light ahead when the entire market is hopeless.
However, if someone asked me in that era: How long will it take you to earn XXX using the current thinking and operations?
I certainly couldn’t answer this question back then, because I couldn’t predict whether I would be lucky enough to earn XXX, and I had no idea when such luck would appear even if I did.
But now when I encounter such a problem, I will firmly believe that if I can really invest enough time, exert strong enough execution ability, and have a strong enough willingness to learn, although I cannot predict when the opportunity to earn XXX will appear, such an opportunity will definitely come.
