A new blockchain-based digital identity platform,
#Y , is being developed by a group of crypto veterans, including
#LidoFinance co-founder Konstantin Lomashuk, to compete with
#Worldcoin (now World Network), founded by Sam Altman. Unlike World Network’s controversial biometric verification using the
#Orb eyeball-scanning device, Y will focus on privacy by verifying users through unique, anonymized traces of their internet usage, reducing risks of fraud and privacy violations.
The Y platform is being designed as a "Crypto SuperApp" that allows users to create and benefit from their digital identities while maintaining privacy. The team includes industry figures such as *Ekram Ahmed, Director of Marketing at Celestia. Y aims to leverage the controversy surrounding Worldcoin’s methods and offer a more secure, privacy-friendly alternative. While details about the platform’s full functionality remain limited, Y positions itself as a direct competitor to World Network.
