According to Solana co-founder Raj Gokal, sales of the Solana Phone have increased 10x in the past 48 hours and are now expected to sell out before the New Year. The sudden surge in the Solana Phone Saga is believed to be caused by the meme coin BONK.
Since the release of the Solana phone on May 8 of this year, new users have been able to claim a free airdrop of 30 million of this meme coin. In the past 30 days, the price of BONK has increased more than 11 times, and the 30 million BONK airdrop is now worth $877, which is $278 more than the current price tag of $599 for the Solana Saga phone. This makes the phone essentially free, and if the purchaser sells the airdropped BONK, they can even make a profit.
