$BTC Bitcoin.org was registered on August 18, 2008. On October 31, Satoshi Nakamoto shared the white paper for Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System. Nakamoto released the software in January 2009, but their identity remains unknown. The paper faced skepticism from academics initially.
