Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota; NYSE: TM) and Joby Aviation, Inc. (Joby; NYSE: JOBY), the developer of electric air taxis for commercial passenger use, have announced the successful completion of Joby’s first international exhibition flight, held earlier this week at Toyota’s Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Shizuoka, Japan.

The flight, conducted with Mount Fuji in view, showcased the low acoustic impact of Joby’s emissions-free aircraft and highlighted nearly seven years of collaboration between Toyota and Joby. During this time, Toyota has shared its expertise in automotive manufacturing and technology to support Joby's development.

Toyota engineers now work directly with the Joby team in California, and in 2023, the two companies strengthened their partnership through a long-term agreement for Toyota to supply key powertrain and actuation components for Joby’s aircraft production.
