According to PANews, Ethereum's transaction per second (TPS) has soared to a historic high due to a sudden surge in Layer3's TPS. Data from L2BEAT shows that on June 16, the Ethereum scaling network, including Layer2 and Layer3 blockchains, recorded a total of 246.18 TPS, equivalent to an estimated 21.2 million transactions throughout the day. Over 41% of these transactions occurred on Xai, a new Ethereum Layer3 expansion solution focused on gaming applications and supported by Offchain Labs. Prior to June 10, Xai's TPS hovered around 1 per day, but it has been rising almost daily since then, reaching a peak of 101.72 TPS on June 16.
Base and Arbitrum ranked second and third on June 16, with 33 and 21 TPS respectively. The fourth place was taken by Proof of Play Apex, another Ethereum Layer3 expander centered on gaming launched by Offchain Labs. However, the total value locked (TVL) of Xai and Proof of Play Apex remains relatively small, at $1.38 million and $695,000 respectively. In contrast, the two largest Ethereum expansion solutions, Arbitrum One and Base, currently have a TVL of $18 billion and $7.6 billion respectively.
