As Snoop Dogg prepares for his upcoming world tour with Wiz Khalifa, he's decided to team up with Web3 innovation platform Transient Labs to launch an Ethereum layer-2 NFT on the Arbitrum chain.
Referred to as the "Snoop Dog Passport," or simply "Passport," the token brings collectors on tour with Snoop, providing a dynamic collecting experience with constantly updated content that brings holders backstage and on the tour bus.
"Really what the passport is, is three things: it's a look behind the scenes, with dynamic content for fans, it's access, with a soon-to-be token gated website with merch and music, and third, there's airdrops from some of the digital ecosystems greatest creators," said Transient Labs COO Chris Ostoich in a conversation with Coindesk.
Priced at just 0.025 ETH or $42 USD, the Passport grants holders access to art airdrops from already announced names like ALIENQUEEN, Terrell Jones, and Coldie. The pass was also designed to be accessible to non-Web3 natives, through a partnership with payment solutions provider Crossmint -- enabling credit and debit card checkout.
Stoked to take this idea to production --
Coming to a US city near you -- excited for everyone to experience @ALIENQUEENNFT, @Coldie, @terrelldom before the Snoop shows and help us bridge the web2 world to web3 via @SnoopDogg community passport, @crossmint + @arbitrum + us…

Transient Labs shared on Twitter that the Passport token exemplifies the intersection of art and innovation, with Ostoich explaining that "We had this interesting and novel innovation called Dynamic Refresh. We figured out a way to update the metadata of a token, without a metadata refresh." He went on to explain that the concept has really interesting implications for any regular content creators, particularly in the entertainment industry as a tool that allows creators to give fans a peak behind the scenes.
In the case of Snoop Dogg, he shared that their team is constantly uploading content from their tours, whether its backstage or on the bus -- with the token being constantly and dynamically updated to provide real-time insight into "what's happening in the world of Snoop Dogg."
Attempting to define the offering, Ostoich shared that it kind of feels like "the first interactive and evolving tour poster." The COO also shared that the dynamic product won't begin and end with the Snoop Dogg launch but that it will soon be available to other artists who are looking for a way to deliver their content in a more connected way.
