According to Odaily, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has introduced a new computing model called the 'glue and coprocessor' architecture, aimed at significantly improving technological efficiency and security. In a blog post on September 2, Buterin detailed the advantages of this architecture, which divides computing tasks into two categories: flexible general-purpose 'glue' components and efficient specialized 'coprocessors.'
Buterin explained that this separation allows routine operations to be handled in an adaptive environment, while intensive tasks are managed by dedicated hardware, thereby optimizing overall performance. He specifically mentioned that the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and the field of artificial intelligence (AI) could benefit from this model. For instance, structured operations could be processed by specialized modules to enhance Ethereum's efficiency, and complex AI models could be handled on GPUs or ASICs through optimized code.
Additionally, Buterin believes that this architecture has broad applications in cryptography and open-source hardware, such as RISC-V chips. These applications could improve security and lower the entry barriers for smaller tech companies. His proposal is expected to foster technological innovation, providing more efficient and secure solutions in the computing field while reducing the entry threshold for smaller tech firms.
