As CryptoXR approaches, the most visited Web3 event in France, the city of Auxerre is becoming a pioneer in the adoption of cryptocurrencies. Starting January 31, more than 40 local merchants will now accept payments in bitcoin.

If CryptoXR promises once again to shake the walls of the city, the traders have decided to participate as well. In the city center, a large network of local traders (clothing stores, restaurants, bars) will offer their customers the option to pay in cryptocurrencies. Among them, the bar Les Brimbos, the BDM, and the city’s institution Mamma Giulia will gladly accept your BTC and other new establishments starting in early 2025.
The initiative, led in collaboration with the CryptoXR team, aims to raise awareness among the public and professionals about the practical use of cryptocurrencies. It will therefore be possible to pay for your meal in cryptocurrencies, to treat yourself to some gifts while strolling through the streets of Auxerre, and even to get a tattoo.
Through this process, Auxerre marks its intention to establish itself as the essential reference for crypto in France. The participation of merchants, the dynamism of the event, and the frenzy of visitors will provide an alternative to current payment methods.
The innovation expected this year also allows the city to strengthen its status as a cutting-edge city with regard to cryptocurrencies and Web3 in general. Auxerre positions itself as the first city in France to make a giant leap towards blockchain and associated technologies. An effort of a magnitude that no other French city had made before.
CryptoXR: the most anticipated Web3 event in France
The previous edition of CryptoXR was a resounding success. That is why, this year, it was essential to do it again. After a success of more than 3,000 visitors over the weekend, CryptoXR returns with even more speakers, space, exhibitors, and workshops. Supported by local and international players, CryptoXR offers a mix of innovation through conferences, interactive workshops, and immersive demonstrations. A presentation on the ecological impact of Web3 will notably be offered, as well as an immersive workshop for beginners on the Metaverse.
