• Vitalik Buterin donates 88 ETH to adopt internet sensation Moo Deng, a behemoth cobit

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of ethereum, has donated 88 #ETH to adopt internet sensation Moo Deng. The donation, worth about $292,000, was given to Thailand's Khao Kaeo Zoo, where the beloved animal lives.

Mu Deng became world famous after a photo of him, taken when he was just two months old, went viral on social media. The photo, posted on the zoo's official Facebook page, generated huge interest and doubled the number of visitors to the zoo by September 2024. The excitement has even led to merchandise featuring Mo Den, further raising the zoo's profile.

Buterin expressed his excitement on X (formerly Twitter), saying he was proud to be able to support Mo Den and that he had 10 million baht (about £292,000) for her care. He also suggested the possibility of future donations: after Mo Den's viral fame, the MOODENG #meme coin was released, the creator of which donated over 10 billion tokens to Buterin. However, Buterin sold these tokens and stated that he would donate the proceeds to charity.

After Buterin donated ETH, the value of the MOODENG #token skyrocketed, surpassing 70% in 24 hours and increasing by 125% in one week. This jump shows that despite the often speculative nature of meme coins, they have the potential for positive change.

Buterin has long supported the idea of using cryptocurrencies, including meme tokens, to create meaningful social impact. He has been a proponent of the idea. His recent donation is a testament to the potential of decentralized financial instruments to support global causes.

Another example of the philanthropic power of meme coins is the MIRA token. Earlier this year, Sisi Chen, founder of Runway, revealed that her daughter Mira was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. Although the tumor was benign, it was difficult to treat due to its critical location.
