Australian former Fortnite player, SerpentAU, has been accused of fraudulently stealing $3.5 million through meme coin scams. The alleged crimes involve hacking high-profile accounts, such as McDonald’s and Usher’s, to promote fake meme coins and entice followers to invest their money. The investigation by blockchain researcher ZachXBT has revealed that the stolen funds were linked to blockchain wallets connected to SerpentAU, which were then used for gambling on platforms like Stake and Roobet.
SerpentAU has been involved in other fraudulent cryptocurrency projects in the past, such as DAPE and ERROR. The case has raised concerns about the role of social media platforms in enabling such scams.
