Ilya Lichtenstein, the mastermind behind the infamous 2016 Bitfinex hack, has been sentenced to a five-year stay in the slammer. Judge Kollar-Kotelly, showing a bit of leniency, could have given him up to 20 years but settled for less due to his "substantial assistance" in other cases.

- Lichtenstein and his partner-in-crime, Heather Morgan (aka rapper Razzlekhan), swiped 119,754 BTC, laundering 95,000 BTC before their 2022 arrest.

- Morgan's sentencing is just around the corner on Nov. 18.
