Lido's CSM empowers solo stakers to run Ethereum validators with only 2.4 ETH, lowering the barrier for more decentralized staking.
CSM’s flexible staking and up to 2.37x higher rewards make it ideal for stakers wanting independent, profitable validation options.
With permissionless entry, CSM democratizes Ethereum staking, allowing anyone to join without special tokens or complex setups.
Lido has launched its Community Staking Module (CSM), empowering Ethereum solo stakers to run validators with minimal capital. Traditionally, Ethereum validators needed 32 ETH, but CSM’s entry requirement is just 2.4 ETH (1.5 ETH for Early Adoption participants). This upgrade democratizes Ethereum staking, letting anyone participate with far less capital, and boosting decentralization, security, and censorship resistance.

With CSM, individual node operators can leverage Lido’s protocol without needing specialized hardware or complex governance tokens. Consequently, they can launch Ethereum validators and earn rewards through streamlined staking.
Besides making the process more accessible, CSM offers flexibility, allowing users to operate validators independently or alongside existing setups. Additionally, its reward structure enhances profitability by allowing up to 2.37x higher returns per ETH compared to solo staking.
Permissionless Entry and Enhanced Rewards
The module encourages permissionless entry, allowing anyone to participate without prior approval. This shifts Ethereum staking from large institutions to a broader user base. Moreover, node operators benefit from steady, competitive rewards. Unlike traditional staking, CSM delivers smoother, stable returns, supported by Ethereum’s execution and consensus layers.
CSM also brings integration flexibility, supporting tools like DAppNode and eth-docker, making it beginner-friendly. This integration enables solo stakers to use familiar platforms, increasing usability. Furthermore, Lido’s innovative Staking Router architecture, introduced in Lido V2, enables modules like CSM to scale efficiently, creating a seamless staking experience.
Strengthening Ethereum’s Decentralization and Security
Lido’s Community Staking Module bolsters Ethereum's security by reducing its validator requirements, allowing more operators to participate. CSM also encourages greater decentralization, minimizing the risks of centralization.
Hence, Ethereum’s resilience and censorship resistance improve significantly, as the network gains a more distributed validator base. Lido’s CSM launch brings solo staking within reach for more users while reinforcing decentralization.
